Welcome to WKC?

I just read Deadspin's synopsis that was published 2 days ago. https://deadspin.com/the-ridiculous-saga-of-lance-armstrong-the-cheater-who-1802288537

My reaction to *anything Armstrong* is the same one I have to the baseball players* that doped, or to my future ex-wife: "meh." Trust that they suck remains a healthy perspective.

Context always matters, but it shifts. Look any closer, and all you see are contradictions that make no sense. There's one so much time in the day for bullshittery.

* Like everyone else in STL I followed Cardinals in the '90s. I saw how Mark McGwire was endlessly lionized. Got his name on a street, etc. Ask me if I give a shit about him holding one of the sport's most incredible stats possible: the single-season home run record. To me it means nothing. Nothing.

It's not about winners, losers, what's just and unjust. It's only meh.
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

Lance Armstrong is a fake and a fraud, he gamed the system and put a boring sport on the radar for us Americans and made a lot of money from it, then got caught. But this is the way of the world in everything we're just able to put a face to this.

And more than enough testosterone via the needle for it not to matter.

Cycling dopers, like marathon and Track dopers, and dopers in general, all suck.

So if you inject your meat in a BBQ contest with crazy MSG stuff, that may or not be good for you, and you win because of that is that right? Armstrong just added a little MSG type stuff.

Um, seasonings and marinades are flavor enhancers, not performance drugs. One is expected, the other provides unnatural physical ability, similar to a machine assist.

Other than that (to say nothing of MSG's unproven harm) ... great "analogy."

with apologies to Barry Manilow

One ball singing in the darkness
All it takes is one ball
Singing so they hear what's on your mind

And when you look around you'll find
There's more than one ball singing in the darkness
Joining with that one ball
Each and every note another octave

Hands are joined and fears unlocked
If only one ball should start it on it's own
We need just one ball facing the unknown
And then that one ball would never be alone
It takes that one ball

This is a great analogy. Msg or other man made food enhancers should not be allowed imo. Basically no processed food. Just food should be allowed. FYI, I have no idea what is or isn't allowed in food / bbq competitions.

Salt and pepper are man-made, mechanically and chemically processed enhancers.

There goes the trophy.
