70s brownie with extras
« on: May 19, 2013, 06:46:02 PM »
Late last week, I responded to a CL ad for a two tone brown 22 with extras including a roti, electric charcoal starter, and warming rack.  The seller said he bought it sometime in the early 70s along with some accessories.  Heres the goods:
The brownie.  Decent shape with a little porcelain missing at the handle welds.  Some soap, steel wool and a new wood handle and it will be ready for action.

Original Weber Roti ring, motor, spit rod, and basket.  The ring seems to be thinner (more flexible) than Webers current ring.  This appeared to be heavily used but should clean up nicely.

Warming rack, aka...the elevated half grill.  I know its only a steel rack but I have never seen one of these outside of a catalog and love it.  This is in great condition.  Its was used but maybe only once or twice.

Oh, and a bonus....shish ring (no skewers).  I couldnt believe my eyes when I saw this in the pile of goodies.  The seller said he didnt think it was used but couldnt find the skewers....darn.

I didnt take a picture of the electric charcoal starter but it appears to be made for a kettle grill.  I did plug it in and it gets hot.  Anyone ever use one of these?

This was a hot item.  The seller said he had over 40 calls and several emails from all over on this after I contacted him.  I guess luck was on my side that day.  I hope to carve out some time in the next week or two for a cleaning and will post more pics once completed.

Golly

Awesome, really great score....I'm thinking we still need to trade...hummmmmm.  Anyhow I used to use those old electric starters all the time.  They work pretty good.  They are only supposed to be plugged in for like five minutes, eventually they crack and fall apart.  They are fun to use....

That's a sweet haul. Congrats! I'm sure you could fashion some skewers out of rod.

Well done G...... Does the older style roti ring fit the kettle better than the new one?

Can you stack the kebab ring on the roti?

THanks all...

@ buckie  The skewer ring is black
@ Hogsy  The fit seems to be the same.  There is a considerable gap between the bowl and ring.
@ pbe  I had the same thought.  It didnt seem to slip inside easily.  It may be possible with some force but I didnt try it.
