How to tell a 26" from a picture?
« on: February 22, 2018, 07:02:40 AM »
I know the older 26" models are somewhat different from the new models, but wondering how a 26" model (old or new) can be identified from just a picture.  I've been keeping my eye out for a 26" on CL and most posts don't say what size they are, even though I know there's 99% chance it's not a 26".  Just trying to learn how to easily identify them without having to contact the poster on CL.  Thanks.

all 26ers have 4 spokes on the triangle that is the easiest way for me
Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

Current models have the vent, handle and therm all in a row.

So as not to confuse folks new to kettle chasing (as I was starting out), the 26"ers have 4 spokes on each side of the triangle for a total of 8 spokes. We don't count the middle spline or axle.

A 22" has 3 spokes on each side of the triangle for a total of 6 spokes.

Great idea RemoGaggi. I live by SanJose (Santa Clara), so if you find one you like in my area maybe I can help you get it till you have time to swing by and pick it up. I am not looking for a 26 right now so let me know! The benefit to me is I can learn about the size difference. I am working on an accessory for the 22 and am wondering how it will fit in the 26.

Larry, thanks for the offer.  I have a new 26", but if I stumble across one locally, I'd probably pick it up.
