Looking for Rubs!
« on: January 19, 2018, 06:18:14 PM »
Hi all,

Which rub do you like best for pork ribs, chicken thighs and steak? Rub needs to be available to buy retail (local or overseas supplier is okay).

I'm at the start of my rub learning journey. I'm currently using Stubbs rubs and Plow Boys Yard Bird rub.

Looking forward to your thoughts!

Rubs are easy to make. If you have a supply of herbs and spices just make your own. And there are lots of good recipes online. Start there and branch out with your own flavour preferences. Enjoy!

Thanks @northernQ. I’ve made rubs in the past and kept them aside but I’m looking for people’s preferred rubs so when I can’t be assed to make some up or I’m in a hurry I have it on hand. True, trusting what they like is what I might like could be tricky but hey that’s cool. Thanks for taking the time to reply and the suggestion, it’s appreciated. Cheers,

I just make a bunch and keep them in sealed jars. Handy and cheaper. Though I will admit I keep Old Bay on hand as family loves it on seafood and chicken

I'm a big fan of the Loot n Booty rubs, Barbecues Galore will be stocking them soon. But there's a few sellers on eBay in Australia
I'm only 2 or 3 kettles away from being that creepy guy down the street with all the Webers

Killer Hogs , Victory lane , Oakridge , loot n booty , elk creek and meat church is what I have stocked up at the moment. Best all around Rub I’ve tried is Killer Hogs. From pork , chicken , beef , or fish it’s great. Lowest salt content of all the  commercial rub I’ve tried .
