Are weber rubs any good ?

You know I have found them to be hit and miss.

One that I didn't care for (I don't recall the name) was a Weber Rib rub. It had a very fine, powdery texture and tasted like generic BBQ Chips.

However, one that I really like is their "N'Orleans Cajun Seasoning." It is fantastic on potatoes. Very similar to 5 Guys Cajun Fries.

Kickn chicken is my favorite on chicken and pork chops. It’s great stuff. I like several of their seasonings but can’t think of the others right now.

I️ like weber Steak and Chop on burgers and steaks. Pretty good as a base and the wife and kid will eat it as it’s not too spicy at all. I️ add a little heat to mine for fun a little bit of Slap yo Mama

My go to commercial rub is Pappy’s. It’s similar to Lawry’s but better. Use it on Tri-tips and whole chickens and it’s great.

Pappy's Choice Seasoning (32 Oz Professional Pack) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002ODE1PQ/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_SLY.zb4XQN3Q6

I also like Pappy’s for beef, although I use the lower sodium version.  I also like Meatchurch.  Very flavorful rubs and provide good color.

I’ve grown up on Pappy’s (being originally from the Central Valley). A lot of people really like it. However, I’ve really gotten burned out on it to the point that I bought a small shaker 3 years ago when I moved back to California (for nostalgia) and have only used it once.

My friends and family (and local butchers) put it on everything. The red label is very salt heavy. I will say their Fajita seasoning is really good though.

Thanks everyone...
@wessonjb I ordered the sampler from Oakridge because I have really been wanting to try their stuff for a while. I’ll see what I like and then commit to a larger quantity. Plowboys and Killer Hogs are next on my “try” list.

Sorry, I screwed up my quote.  I like Pappy’s for beef, although I use the lower sodium.  I also like Meatchurch.  Very flavorful and good color.

I normally try to always whip up my own rubs but I was in a hurry last night and tried Stubbs Chicken rub along with the ManLaw drumstick rack.

The Stubbs chicken was great. The ManLaw rack is flimsy and rusted after 1 use and 1 wash.

Blues Hog seasoning for pork butts, Zero to Hero for ribs as well as 17th Street Magic Dust from Mike Mills. All of the Code 3 Spices for various things, and finally Killer Hogs AP Rub for brisket with added coarse pepper. With steaks, I just can’t get away from Grill Mates Montreal Steak Seasoning.

Lets just say I have acquired a few Kettles.  Big and small.   Vintage and New...  Some say I have a problem.  I find the Kettle, buy the Kettle, USE the Kettle...No problem...

Seasonings I use all the time are...

Weber Seasonings...
Kick N Chicken
Beer Can Chicken
Zesty Lemon
Boston Bay - (No longer made)

John Henry's Seasonings...
Old Stockyard - (Great on pork shoulder)
Texas Chicken Tickler
Hot Wing Rub - (Easy on this stuff)

Dizzy Pig Seasonings...
Swamp Venom
Cow Lick Steak

3 Beer Seasoning
BBQ Rub

There are a lot more but if I was going to recommend I to always have on hand it would be the Old Stockyard because can’t get it everywhere and I do a lot of pork shoulder.

Wife said "No more GRILLS in this house!" So I bought a 2nd house!

You had me at "Jess Pryles" and "rub".

I understand she's also a cook.
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch
