Australia’s First Junior PITMASTER
« on: October 25, 2017, 05:45:43 PM »
Last weekend we competed at the Smokin The Valley Brisket Challenge in Wingham NSW.
The competition also included the first ABA(Australia’s version of KCBS) sanctioned Junior BBQ comp in Australia.
My 11 yr old son Flynn entered against 11 other competitors and took out Grand Champion!
It was a very proud dad moment and I still can’t get the smile of my face!
Here’s a short video from the event

Nice! Congrats!
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

Thanks everyone and yes I’m still really pumped about it and so is he. It’s great that promoters are trying to get families involved because it’s a cool little community that has evolved on the competition circuit in Australia. The local paper is interviewing him this weekend at our 2nd last comp for the year and he’s looking to that

Congratulations Flynn, already dominating in the first comp.

@Hogsy, he must have had a great mentor!
