When I was at Weber, I designed a clamp that would clamp to a vertical or horizontal surface.  All you needed to do was slide the goose neck in either of the positions -thus you could clamp it to a table or a vertical frame member.

I took the idea from my 4 bar mechanism desk lamp that mounted the same way.  I still have that lamp which goes back to when I started college in1985.

Here's my go to... Lowes, $7.00, clamps almost anywhere. I have two, one at each side of my cooking area.

Multiple kettles and WSM's. I am not a collector, just a gatherer... and a sick bastard.

At competitions we have LED rope lights that illuminate most the area. I try to get an early start and try to secure an easy access spot near street lighting when possible.

Home is a 12x12 deck with roof and string lighting from Costco
I cook on: Backwoods Gater, Lang 36, Hunsaker Smokers, Pellet Pro 22" WSM, BGE's, WSM's, Cajun Bandits, PK Grills, Drum Smokers, Genesis Silver C, Weber Q's, Cookshack 008, Little Chief, La Caja China #2, Lodge Sportsman...oh yeah! Weber Kettles! Kamado restoration and pit modification hack!

LMAO!  I too use a light switch but it operates a porch light on the back patio.

I’ve run power on my rafters on my back porch and mounted LED strips. One is almost directly over my kettle.

These are great, inexpensive lights. Used 2 of those when I had a houseboat. Powered them with a Honda 800 W generator.  Great Q'ing lights and double as crappie fishing lights later at night. Still use them occasionally when I rent vacation homes that don't have sufficient lighting for Q'ing.

I've loved,OK, coveted those since I first saw them.
Been buying up clearance SJ with a grand plan for the space.  Hey, they're much cheaper than the damn " industrial" fixtures that also come from China.

Just need two more.

In the mean time I use 3 clamp on work lights on the pergola over the grilling area.  Move them as needed.
