Tri-Tip
« on: September 11, 2017, 11:19:42 AM »
It's been a while since I cooked a Tri-Tip.  I had to solve that problem.

Coated with EVOO, S&P and garlic powder.

Sweet potatoes and zucchini with onions.  Those are Weber briquettes, I'm really liking them.

I went with the reverse sear method.

Getting my sear on.

Sliced and ready to eat with a sour cream/horseradish sauce.

I don't know why I wauted so long between Tri-tips, these things sure are tasty.  Thanks for looking.

I am doing this this weekend.   I'm anxious to just sit there as it cooks...

It was about 1.5#'s.  I'm not really sure how long I cooked it, probably about two beers.

I actually bought this at HEB, but it was the one off 99 and Gleannloch Farms Road..  They have had them recently.

Great simple seasoning to compliment the meat! Nice job! I also really like your choice of sides.

I'm curious though: was that cut packaged as tri tip or did the meat cutter advertise it as such?

I ask because it looks like the upper portion of the bottom loin rather than what I normally see as a "tri tip."

I suppose some people are using those interchangeably now?

Mike, you aren't the only one that has brought this to my attention.  It was packaged as a Tri-Tip but I have a feeling you are right.  It was damn tasty whatever it was.

Any idea where to find d a tritip in NE Florida (Jacksonville)?
The grocery stores don't have them and neither does Sam's.
I've been wanting to try one (or 2) but I can't find em.

Welcome.
Try Freshfield Farms on University.  Or Tillman's in Mandarin, or Pinegrove Market in Riverside.

I'll have to keep my eye out, haven't seen any at the one on Mason, thanks for the tip! Looks good, I've been wanting to try one since joining this site. Hadn't heard about them before WKC.
