WKC FAQ?
« on: May 01, 2013, 09:56:10 PM »
How cool would it be to have an FAQ section or thread sticky with acronyms, how to section, faq, etc. etc. I would definitely contribute to that master library. There is alot of good info on the site, but sometimes it will get buried in new posts or banter. Even if new posts aren't generated we can link to them.

Some potential topics could be:
Age guide>> already exists
Glossary- OTP, SS, SJS, OTG, MT OT+ etc etc.
Color guide
how to id a kettle> SJS vs SJG vs JJ, OTG vs MT, OTP vs 2010 performer, etc.
Technical guide- how to disassemble a performer, adding a new ash catcher to an old grill, replacing the ashsweeper. How to clean a kettle, how to ship a kettle

Lots of work, yes but we have a good group here of dedicated Weber heads and alot of the info exists already.

Lawrence

Great idea, Lawrence.  I'd love to contribute toward that project as well.

we should also include kettle ID:  18 vs. 22 vs. 26
also WSM ID:  18 vs. 22, pre-2009 vs. post
also, we could include psychological counseling, like "How to handle your anxiety when a hardcore kettle head (like Bman) starts dominating the CL in your area".

I'll have video capability at Jeff's in June, why don't we do a "history walk" and point out each of the eras and details in a live setting? I think a few couple minute videos  would cover most of what we're talking about here, and much better to see the grills being talked about. If nothing else, it would supplement a document that lists all the models and variations. Nothing fancy, but a fun way to record the moment and share the knowledge. Troy - hire a couple models like you see at car shows and we'll be all set.  ;)

Oh wait, my wife is going to be there.

Get Harrison Ford to play my part.. Or that guy who did McGyver.. Dean somethig or other..
I lilke the idea of models too. 8)

we can't afford models.

the best we can do is the late morning / early afternoon strippers. the ones too skanky for the prime shifts. the 'daytime hookers'

Might be able to get these gals ~~~>

They're skinny & I've heard "will work for food", so the cost wouldn't be too far out there..... 8)

  PS: I've still
got a list of about 25 threads that have to do with all this research stuff, with a quick note on what each one's about...........

The only thing not covered really is the Performers, 'cause when I collected the threads, not much had been written yet & I don't know much about them & didn't know exactly what to look for.....

Hi, I started the Glossary in the K&A forum. Once that settles down a bit I will start the FAQ topics.

How could something so wrong, taste so right...  :o
On another note, I did do a rewrite of the Age guide a couple months ago, it is awaiting final approval.
