Anyone do a mod for bottom vents?
« on: July 28, 2017, 01:50:07 PM »
Tired of bending down to see status of my bottom vents. My Happy Cookers have 3 on the bottom.

Anyone make orientation markings and/or add a vent knob to them.

Yes, I thought of this after seeing the vent knob thread...

Tired of bending down to check bottom vents... Am I missing something.

Q: How do you know something is bull$h!t?

Merkong,

May I suggest get a OT kettle and mark the shroud (in relation to the OT handle) with a sharpie. Never think that much about bottom position vents again. Done!

I think I'll try something like that on my two OT kettles. Maybe an etching or something...

My Happy Cooker (soon to be two Happy Cookers) have 3 vents. I'm going to add knobs and try an orientation mark... Again, maybe an etching.

My Structo and John Deere (both likely made by the Thermos Corp. in the late 60's) have one bottom vent but I still might try to minimize stooping due to old age (lmao, I mean laziness).

Will post progress.
