Got my Smokey Joe Setup
« on: June 17, 2017, 03:22:51 PM »
My smokey joe resided mainly in my garage unused because I did not like cooking on the ground.  I got the Weber charcoal table and craycort cast iron grill.  I set it up in the backyard and grilled me a steak.  I have pictures but can't figure out how to post them.  I really love this set up.  The table put the grill at just the right height.  I see more grilling this summer.  Anyone using lump charcoal in the their smokey joe?

Good job on getting it setup. I don't have an SJ but I could see how it would be nice if I was flying solo and wanted a quick burger or steak.

Easiest way to post pictures is to use the smartphone app and post from your photo library. If you don't have a smartphone read this.

Funny you mention this. I bought one for my ex husband as a Father's Day present from our daughters and was just helping him set it up 5 minutes ago. We bought him a 14" WSM for Xmas last year. I believe it was this board that recommended using the table with the 14 and as he is 6'6" having something under the WSM to raise it up a bit is far better for him. I asked him to unbox it so we could make sure there was no damage (there wasn't). Wow, that thing is super nice and now I have grill table envy. I have a SJP and I see myself getting one before the end of the summer.

They seem to have a keystone price so I ordered this one from Target with my red card (I have it connected to my debit card) to get 5% off plus free shipping.

I picked one of those tables up on the cheap about 6 months ago on eBay. Just used it for the first time last week. Love it!

Nice....the feet sit down in or lock so things don't wobble around.....Happy Grilling !!!

There's a lot you can do even on the small Smokey....I seen a guy do a 7# pork shoulder on one 'cause that's all he had to use while on vacation !!!

    Covered, damper-controlled cooking.....IF YOU PLEASE !!!

I love this set up. I love the way it cooks my steaks.  Now to see about trying some lump charcoal.

I use only lump in my sj. Have for years, so much less ash, starts in a fraction of the time as briqs do. You just have to learn that you don't need a lot of lump.

I love that table. It will also lock in the GA and newer Jumbo Joe.

Happen to know if the SJP/outrider fits in there?

I don't know about a smokey joe platinum.   May be contact Weber and ask.

I love the cast iron grate.  However I think if I had to do it again I would get the one piece grate.  The one I got still works fine.

I know it probably depends on who you talk to at Weber, but it took me explaining what a smokey joe platinum was 3 times for the girl to find the schematic. I don't really blame her, SJPs have been out of production for 11 years.

Looking at the leg difference I would guess no, but haven't seen one of those tables up close.
