OK, per the prompting of @zavod44 we have a new term for this type of modification, the resto-mod.

OK a few months back I scored this

While doing a cleanup I thought it would be cool to retro this and with the prompting of @Craig and Brian I have completed the process.  Now, this is not a @SixZeroFour type clean up but that might come, the grill is complete though

Items of note
I took a rusted beyond repair triangle and blackened it with paint.
standard weber plastic wheels and with a solid white wall from @Uncle Al
chrome caps on the wheels
rounded top old style single screw handles with matching rollers
flat edge twist ash pan inspiration from Matt when he did this with his smoke MT

I present my retro-modded Plainsmen

I am not a collector, but I do have a small collection.

Looks great.  I love the single screw version of the old style handle.
Wanted: Burgundy 18"

Hell Fire Grill

I like the retro touch you gave it. It's a nice break away from the usual.
That grey is a beauty.
You can't always get what you want....but if you try sometimes you get what you need

Looks great! I'm glad you kept the original heat-shield handle. :)

Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

Heyjude

The chrome caps are a little flashy, don't ya think?  @LightningBoldtz
Us po folks out in the burbs can't keep up with you city guys!
To the average eye, it looks like it was made that way..

In a serious note, why not use the weber lettered wheels?
It looks a bit Happy Cooker ish.. Brains fav kettle is a brown HC @zavod44

Not nit picking the grill at all, just curious how you came to make your decisions..
And while we all appreciate others intensive restorations.. @SixZeroFour
Yours is a grill to be proud of.. You don't see many Grey MT's come around.
Nice Work for sure..
I don't care if you don't like my Avatar, its there for me..

I was going for the old style white walls with a new wheel.  I never thought of the happy cooker look.  I am still being told by others that I need steel wheels,  I suppose if I were to get a set, I might swap them out.

Give me a definition and I'll add it to the glossary  @LightningBoldtz @zavod44

LightningBoldtz

Retro-Mod - a modification to a kettle that uses an old concept to a new grill or a new concept to an older grill.

I am trying to use different methods in the definition because Brian, Craig and I were discussing him putting modern MT legs on an older Master-Touch.

@zavod44 @Craig help with the definition?
