Kabobs, how to?

I usually put a few bricks on the grate and lay the skewers on top of them directly over the fire.
Here's some shrimp/chicken kabobs I did recently.

I've thought about getting a couple of pieces of angle iron and hitting them with some Hi-Temp paint.
