it's your unread mentions count.
Mine is 63, what's yours?

Whenever someone mentions your name with @, you should get a notification.
You can click onto your profile and hover over the "Profile Info" link. A menu that contains "mentions" will appear. Click mentions to hit up the page that lists all of them.

@Rub, often people will mention others in a thread to draw that person's attention to it, instead of going the longer route of copying an url, and sending it to you in a private message saying "hey, you might be interested in this".

Yeah it's taken me a little bit to figure out how that worked. It's a nice feature - especially now that I know how it works. Thanks guys.
