First fire on the Caribbean
« on: April 25, 2017, 11:34:39 AM »
Fired up the Caribbean the first time yesterday to make some barbecue meatloaf and black iron cornbread.

Started the cooker around 350ish and about 45 minutes in added the upper deck, black iron pot and used famous Dave's cornbread recipe. I cracked the lid and ran the heat up to about 400 to cook the cornbread.

It was a real joy to sit back and watch this girl do her thing. [emoji106]

Have a good one fella's!

Simply amazing, the cook and the cooker! Someday I'll find one. Where can I find the Dave's cornbread recipe?

Thanks Rummy. I actually saw it for the first time at my local grocery store.

Great use of the upper deck. Nice cook!

If all I had was a 22, that would be a mandatory item for sure.

@hoosierkettle thanks bud! I agree that some sort of elevated rack would be a must.
@greenweb thanks man! It really is a pretty cooker! Handle is in perfect shape, but I wonder if that high fig cedar would compliment this shade.
@rottiguy @shoebe thanks guys!

@Travis- I can't say for sure if you would like the cedar on your cado. I do have a 18" cado I could try on few different handles including cedar for you to see and make decision on before ordering. Give me till tomorrow to try some on and load up some pics for you to see.

Hey thanks man. I wouldn't worry about it though. That handle is in too good of shape to replace. Of course, you never know what you'll run into next.

Got you! If that is the case, I will hold off replacing my cado handle too as mine is also in good shape. I am eventually going to replace all my MBH handles even if the original is still good.

Actually, now I am curious what would look good on a cado. I will try few different ones on it to see. Will take some pics tomorrow.

Sorry! I moved the pics to - No Explanation Necessary... Round 2 as this is a Cooking section.

I just set it on the lid to see the contrast. Personally, I am fine with any one of these for my cado.  I don't know about you guys, but they all look great to me.
