Corned Beef on the California Avocado
« on: March 18, 2017, 06:05:41 AM »
Nothing too exciting. Being St. Paddy's day yesterday it was time to break out my green MBH aka the "California Avocado" for its first cook (for me) some corned beef. Two point cuts 2 and 4 pound cuts. We had family in town that I forgot was coming so I bought a second point just in case.

Can't tell it here but in person, these old greens DO change color slightly when screaming hot. Somewhat of an Army green tint to it. I love it!

Time to check the meat. Only about an hour and 10 minutes and it's ready.

Did the cabbage inside on the stove with mashed potatoes. Again nothing exotic but had fun cooking last night. Thanks for looking.

Nice cook

Do you find the elevated grate works better than on the cooking grate?
Dude, relax your chicken.

Thanks!

I love using the elevated grate for indirect cooks. But in actuality I was going to do one below and the other above but they both fit and I just left it in.

That green MBH is beautiful. I'd like to hear the entire story.

And your cook looks very good. I cooked up something similar for the Super Bowl - into pastrami quesadillas - and it turned out very well. So I'll bet that was a good day.
