I thought my 77' 18 was grey. Duke and/or others have said it is a faded black.  If it is faded, I would think the lid and bowl would not match since the bowl is somewhat shaded.  I guess if it was on a conrete patio, the sun would reflect on the bowl and also fade it .

The picture does make it look like it has a blue tint but its pretty much just light grey in person.

My recollection is that this one was black when I got it.

I have a faded black like Ethel, but even more faded. It does have those white spots. What amazes me is how uniform the fade is. I will post once it is cleaned. Damned winter will not go away...

This black kettle was incredibly faded gray, then I sprayed it down with armor all...and it turned the original jet black color..





Here is the original bowl close up to see the speckle look...

Maybe we should start calling them "Silvers". I think that's what weber called Grandpa's original color. Besides they might appreciate it more than faded black. These are their silver years. :)
