You can get a grill cover for the pre 2004 SSP's at Grillstuff.com.  I have 3 SSP's and 2 are covered with with the covers.  Get one, you won't be disappointed.   Here is the Link. https://www.grillstuff.com/collections/weber-grill-covers/products/weber-performer-charcoal-grill-cover-2004-and-older  best part... they are onsale!!!

Lets just say I have acquired a few Kettles.  Big and small.   Vintage and New...  Some say I have a problem.  I find the Kettle, buy the Kettle, USE the Kettle...No problem...
