Weekend cooks.
« on: January 24, 2017, 04:51:52 PM »
My days off were Monday and today. I had a pork butt thawing and planned on putting it on the Fleetwood when I got off work Sunday night at midnight. Came home, 3x2 snake with Stubbs and apple chunks. The butt was a 10 hour cook and had I'm guessing an hour or two at the most left of the snake when done.
Next day, got the Fleetwood all cleaned up and decided to run her again for some chops and broccoli. Kingsford for the heat. 3 baskets worth and while heating up I sprayed her down with some Pam to get her sheen back.
This was the first cook with her new set of walnut handles from Brian.

Everything looks fantastic there Travis! Where do your apple chunks come from? You have fruit trees on your property?

Dang, nice cook. That's great you have a source for applewood. Plenty of smoke with those huge chunks. Can you use freshly cut wood or do you have to let it dry out?

Butt looked perfectly tender.

@HoosierKettle Thanks man! You can use green fruit wood in my opinion. It doesn't give off a bitter flavor.

This last pic.... handle looks great and the lid looks like a well seasoned Cast Iron.

That's a great looking sandwich and I love that grill! Hoping to do a couple of butts myself for the Super Bowl, I wish I had that type of room.
