Man down!
« on: November 25, 2016, 06:51:24 AM »
I store my flattop 26r on dirt. All this rain that has rolled through the Bay Area caused the front leg to dig into ground from the kettle's own weight. Then it tipped over. Man down!  :'( I'm too pissed to even pick it up at the moment.

Damn, that blows. Wouldn't have that that could even happen. Time to get a couple pavers or something. Hope the lid handle didn't get pushed in.

No worries, these Kettles we collect like to be used and that means not staying perfect. Pick him up. Character that's what it may have gained. And having character is a good thing.

This kettle already has a lot of "character" so it's not a big deal!

I should have taken a couple pictures of my friends kettle and my in laws kettle. Both were worse than any lids I've seen yet. One looked like the handle was beat with a sledge hammer. Pushed in so far that the vent no longer sealed to the lid. The other one looked like it had been hammered all around the lid handle then hammered back out. I'll take a picture next time. You guys would have gotten a kick out of it. Both performers too

If they can't get along then they should be separated.

When I bought my 26" kettle I assembled it inside, when I got done I put my vortex on the rack at the bottom and carried it down the steps, ended up almost tripping on the vortex as it slid off and I dropped the kettle the lid fell and dinged it up!  My first brand new kettle and I was pissed!   I know it's not the same but it kinda gets to you no matter the age.
Wanted: 18" Platinum any color will work
This is my Kettle there are many like it but this one is mine......

It bent a leg socket in the fall. Will pound it out later.

At least it didn't get carried off by a twister.  That happens in the mid west.

That would have bummed me out too. Hopefully damage was minimal.

I still hate myself for dropping the pristine lid on my 22.5 Copper while moving it to grilling position. I learned how those gouges in the enamel on top of the lid happen. :(

Now I never move a kettle w/o a hand on the lid, or the lid off altogether.
