Birthday Mini Vacation
« on: November 17, 2016, 05:38:51 AM »
We go down to Indian River Inlet, south of Rehoboth Beach, DE twice a year and rent one of the cottages on the water... once in the spring, and once in the fall. This is done with some dear friends, and we ALWAYS have a blast!

This trip was no different. There was food, wine, vodka, food, more wine, and sleep.  :) Let me just say that I accomplished everything I wanted to do... nothing... oh, and eat, cook, drink, sleep. Repeat.

Where to begin. I did not get pics of all the food, because my camera has been drinkin'. My camera has been drinkin'. Not me. Not me. Not me. (My best Tom Waits imitation)  ;D

The beginning:

The weather was incredible the  whole thyme we were there, which has never happened before on these trips. There were still A LOT of boats in the water:

Our artillery... the lineup (well, at least some of it... ) :

At some point, we had to eat. Scallops and pasta, served with a side of salad, consisting of heirloom tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. Seemed to be in order for starts:

Had some leftovers, so breakfast was in order. Scallop and pasta frittata, along with the heirloom tomato salad:

Surprise guest, RedHead made the trip this thyme:

Did a rack-o-lamb one night in the SV @ 134 for 6 hours, let it rest and sliced it up, then seared it on RedHead. Served it up with mini taters, sauteed mushrooms and baked beets:

Needed breakfast the next day, so let's re-purpose leftovers:

We had one fatality during the breakfast course... a bloody Mary committed suicide:

Somewhere along the line, we had snax. Lots of cheeses, crackers, mussels and sausage mix:

Someone's iPhone became the juke box, and I figured out it needed amplification and how to fix that problem... RedHead to the rescue:

The last night we were there, I made beef ragu. RedHead performed flawlessly... Got her all hot and bothered:

And the grand finale, my birthday tree and everyone singing Happy Birthday...

Thanks for lookin'!!

We do Rehoboth for a week each summer and ive brought a weber each year for the last two. This year it was a 26". Vacation grilling by the water is the best. Cheers.

Lets just say I have acquired a few Kettles.  Big and small.   Vintage and New...  Some say I have a problem.  I find the Kettle, buy the Kettle, USE the Kettle...No problem...
