It cleaned up good after a fair amount work with a wire and wheel brush using my drill. Before I cooked last weekend, I heated up the grate and seasoned with grape seed oil. I will take some pics of the newly seasoned grate tomorrow. Cooked some salmon last weekend and it didn't stick that bad. Just need to season it a bit more.

Wow that  is a very nice Ranch.  Looking forward to a shot with the new handles and your neighbors comments.  Makes your 26.75 look like one of my 18.5 kettles.  ;D

Wooden handles from Brian look good - I still need to rework the bottom vents as two of them were deformed from trying to force open at one point.

Here is a before of the grates. It isn't easy to see from the pic, but the grate had a fair amount of surface rust.

After first cook and generous amounts of grape seed oil. Will take a few cooks to get I seasoned up well. Once I get the new bottom vents, I will be firing her up again.

are those ones the standard nickel plated / chrome, or does the Ranch go uptown & give you stainless?
