Baby Backs....
« on: July 09, 2016, 06:35:31 PM »
First time trying ribs. Seasoned with Weners chicken and rib rub. Also first time trying out the snake method (worked perfectly). This is just before a good dousing with Sweet Baby Rays

And 10 minutes after it was unwrapped from resting with my little brother, daughter, and myself eager to try. I'd say it was a success!

All 3 of us looked at that last one and then at each other lol. It was eaten (by me) before I washed dishes a bit later though.

I agree! I had never tried it before and am impressed. I'll definitely be using this method in the future. So many things to try......so little time....

Those look great man! Question about the snake method. How long of a burn time did it give you? Did you have to add coals at all?

With whats pictured is about 4 hours of burn time. This was done with KBB and hickory chunks. I didnt add any coals and cant comment on how long of a burn time total because as soon as the ribs came off I shut the vents down. I love the way I can save charcoal this way with this kettle.

This was my first time trying the snake method and I absolutely love it. IMO its a must for anything over 2 hours or so.

Man, you never forget the first time you smoke ribs yourself and get it right - It only takes that one experience to put you off restaurant ribs forever...

Nah, drip pan was to hold a bit of apple juice rather then catch drippings.
Thank you, I'm have planned to do more this weekend. Want to experiment a bit.

I live and die by the snake method on my kettle. I haven't quite mastered my WSM yet so that's the next best thing.
