GBS coal configuration
« on: June 13, 2016, 11:50:37 PM »
Ive just bought a weber with the gbs grill system.  All tutorials ive seen refer to having coals on one side of the bbq for direct and indirect heat.  Now the problem I have is that the GBS system is in the middle of the grill.  So if I want to griddle onions etc whilst indirectly cooking sausages for example.  How do I set up my coals?  Thought about setting them in the middle but I would assume the outside of them doesnt give enough space away from the direct heat?

Go pick yourself up a pair of the weber baskets. They're cheap and you can maneuver the baskets around for those situations.

Also, hello from Illinois. Should head over to the introduction page and say hi!

IF you are doing sausages indirect and using the griddle for onions, just spread the coals out in the middle underneath where the griddle will be.  Place your sausages around the griddle and off you go.
