Well by some miracle I had off last Friday, technically I didn't have off, I just stayed all night on Wed so I decided not to go in on Friday. Anyhow I was home and I checked CL and I saw a red 26. No sooner do I make contact and I get a few texts saying that a red 26 aristocrat is for sale by me. So I told the guy I was on my way. When I was about ten min out troy calls and says there's a red 26 by me on Craigslist. Not one to jinx anything I told troy I would look into it.....I rolled up and it was in the back yard. It was honestly one of the worst condition grills I ever saw. I can't figure out what they did to this lid. Tons of porcelain was gone and it looks like they smeared cement on there. As soon as you moved it the legs collapsed. He tossed in a small bag of charcoal. He also gave me a leg from the old style Weber table. Nothing else but he did have a leg. But hey it's a red flat top. Also before I left he tossed in a big old pick axe.
On the way home I sent Troy a picture of it in my van. It was like ten min after he called....
So what I did was I took the wheels off, I put some generic 8" wheels on there. And I took it to my sister in laws and we cooked some chicken on the bone for the family.....back in action after all these years. To me that's what it's all about.
The day I picked it up
Here it is back on its feet. Cooking for the family. It's got it's new shoes on. Put some foil on the legs to tighten them up.
The obligatory shot of the darkening of the red color.....
For $30 it was well worth it and will continue to be used for a long time to come.....even if it is the Aristoc-Rat
