Genesis Platinums ??
« on: April 18, 2016, 11:15:09 PM »
I just got into restoring a 1998 Genesis 2000 in red.

While doing this I learned of the Genesis Platinum.

They had pin-striping on the lid and the word Platinum.

I have seen grey, red and black so far.
Were there other colors, such as brown or mauve in the Platinum series?

The Platinums had stainless flavorizors from the factory.

I kinda dig the large SS side tables and SS doors.
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

The side tables are not SS and were pretty rusty under the enamel coating. I converted this grill into a nice cart with side burner. I saved some of the parts, but the hood, fire box and side tables were too jacked up to justify a restore effort and went to the dump. The frame and SS cabinet are still in very nice condition and live on in my outdoor kitchen.

There was.  I had one for a while.  Let me see if I still have any pics of it and if I do, I'll post it up.

I have one! Bought in March 199 at Elliotts Ace Hardware in Elm Grove, WI. Just refurbed the insides and love it. They had an upgraded stand and heavy duty side burner and smoker box and ss flav bars. Mine is a 3200
