A Screwed-up SS Performer
« on: February 23, 2016, 03:20:14 PM »
I found this thing on CL yesterday in bad shape.

After I hosed it down I found the damage was worse than I realized, with multiple rust holes around the ash sweepers.

This morning I started fixing it.

All the screws got ground down almost flush but I didn't get a pic of it yet.

Its getting fired up and cooked on later tonight.

Wow, what an ingenious fix! That's really awesome, and way to bring a SS back to life!
I had to go back and keep looking at the picks I'm so impressed

That is an incredible repair. I would take longer than that just in trips to Home Depot.

Its hot! I put a fire grate in it and some fire.

The propane tank and quick release gizmo are missing so the gas assist dont work, for now.

Heres the pic I missed of the screws.

I'm considering flipping the screws so the heads are on the out side. Probly wont do that til I rotate the whole shabang so the sweeper blades dont hit the burner....hey I was in a rush what can I say :o

Pop rivets may work well too. I've used em on several grill mods

The lid thermo and my grate thremo are reading about the same, close enough for what Im doing.

So its ready be sanitized properly now that its hot.

No time for playing, this stuff is a meat equivalent of dynamite.

Done! Got a couple extra crispy but most of it was bite through.

Damn it @Hell Fire Grill!  I'll let it slide since your franken performer seems to be having no problems holding/hitting high temps!
