Vortex-less wings
« on: January 16, 2016, 04:36:31 PM »
I don't have a vortex, but since I've seen a few of these lately, I decided to give them try. I got my chimney slightly over loaded and poured the lit coals into the charcoal baskets on my 26
Temps held about 530 the whole time. Cooked 20 minutes per side.

Picked up some wing sauce on my way home since the wife likes the honey bbq.

Came out great just like everyone else says. Crispy and moist.

Looks good!  Did you batter those up at all?  Kinda looks like they are coated.  Thinking of doing some wings outside, but it's not suppose to get up over 30F out today.

Thats exactly how I do mine.  I'd like to get a vortex and do a side by side.

Beans and rice!

I didn't batter them, just coated in flour. Some of them got a sprinkle of Chipotle bbq dry rub before I coated in flour.

KBB Briquets, with a couple chunks of cherry on the grate.
