Blue '91 Performer SS
« on: November 30, 2015, 03:04:50 PM »
This is the one I've been talking about in 'Online finds' for $45.Finally got it home. haven't cleaned it up at all, too darn cold. Windy and sitting at 23 degrees. The owner told me he bought it new in '96. I didn't take a pic of the owner's manual and the original wire tool for cleaning out the gas tube. Tool is unsed, owner's manual is in rougher shape than the Performer. Serial number on the owner's manual is 114147. Also included but not shown are the two charcoal baskets.

The only rust on the unit and it's very minor.

The only bad spot on the whole unit. This was touched up at the store it was bought at. He got a discount :/

...and that's it. No rust on the frame at all, none on the fasteners, nowhere.

That's a winner! Sweet score on an all-original SS! And blue to boot!

Aside from the one blemish on the lid, that SS should look brand new, after a proper clean-up. Awesome find and score!

Hopefully I won't come across any more great deals. Got my first Weber kettle about 3 weeks ago and picked up three others since. More than enough for me. All I wanted was one! This.Must. Stop. :/

Your account's been hacked. I suspect your wife, but I wouldn't rule the children out either.

Wow.   That thing is in great shape.  I'd get a few cooks done and wait for some warmer weather to get it cleaned up since its so clean already.  I think you are going to love the gas assisted start.  I love mine (REd 96 SS Performer).  Lightercubes or newspaper in the chimney aren't a big deal, but its still an extra step that you will not miss at all once you light a chimney with the gas assist!

Thanks folks! Nice hearing the kudos from people that know.
I just called up the local depot where we fill up etc and to certify the tank if it passes the visual is $28. About another $8.50 to refill. This is the same outfit that converted it from the qc years back. Might convert to 1 lb tanks for now. Not going to be using it much in any event. Using the first one I got, classic kettle.
