Beach Eats!
« on: January 25, 2013, 07:58:45 PM »
For our anniversary my wife and I went to Capitola Ca. for a few days and I cooked all day everyday!  :D

The first day it was hamburgers. I made some waffle fries along with some carelized onions.

Then it was a little chook.

I love this shot! :o

Does anyone know if these go good on the grill?  ???

I know this does...............

Salmon! I made some two step carrots, rice pilaf and garlic bread to go with it.

The next day it was chuck eyes. Man were these good!

I also made some crash hots and carrots. The garlic bread was around there somewhere? ::)

Then the last night I thought I would take a break and make a pizza with lotsa mushrooms and olives.

By the way, we had leftovers with everyday for breakfast and lunch, but the leftover steak and potatos turned into hash browns with eggs was off the hook!  :o

Thanks to my trusty paella pan I was able to keep it all going. :)

Looks like you had a great time!  Lots of good food...do you put on a few pounds???????????????

So is that red 18 sort of travel grill? No wheels, just set it in place?

Did you guys have a nice view from your little patio area?

Thanks everyone!

I don't think I gained weight, but did a lot of waliking down the beach and around the streets grill hunting. I did one long cook on the thighs. The red 18 was a gift from Stu and has become my red traveler. I just pull the legs and put them inside the grill for when I take it somewhere.

You're posts are the reason I'm picking up a paella pan tomorrow. Tell me some more about how you fixed those waffle fries in it

Thanks again! The waffle fries are frozen since I don't have a madolin yet. They are usually like two bucks when they are on sale. I just drop them in and cook them indirect until they are well thawed and then I go direct and flip them every now and then. You can also add a little of you own spices if you want. I have also done these in a weber basket with great results. Breaksfast is my favorite in the pan though. I wish I would have taken a shot of the steak and egg breakfast to share and savor.

Good stuff Duke!!!  Capitola is beautiful!  I wanted to move there or Aptos when I moved up this way from L.A., just not that much real estate, properties go fast!

Yep!  Those apartments are all painted specifically after colored kettles. We will be throwing the California Chapter WKC Meet in Capitola this summer 2013!
So far it's you, me and HeyJude.  8)

Looked at a paella pan Saturday but it was 15 inches plus the handles and I didn't think it would fit under my SJP. Saw some 13 inch ones on Amazon so I'm probably going to go that way.
