There should be a name for this condition
« on: January 25, 2013, 12:40:45 PM »
There should be a name for this.  How many years of dragging does it take to grind a front leg to this angle?

not the best picture but you get the point....

Those are probably the same people the install the legs incorrectly and can't pull the grill by the handle on the bowl!

I picked up a Freecycle kettle this summer that had the leg ground down just like that.  And it had the leg aligned with the handle.  I guess people must move them around an awful lot!

Duke!  Hey AJ was looking for you.

Folks who grind the legs down like that should be called "grinders" but that sounds like a sandwich.  So maybe "scrapers" because they scrape the legs.  But that is not very creative.

I have some that are so ground off, that when I try to install a white cap on there it doesn't even sit on the leg properly.  I'm voting for calling it the "dirty angle"....

"Tommy"  the stepchild of my kettle family is so ground down, he's almost 2 inches off level......

All three leg sockets wobble, not one weld is actually broken, mind you, they just wobble....

He pretty much showed up that way, lookin' all wobbly & sorta drunk lookin'.....

I just didn't say anything & just kept using him, just like he was.....a demonstration of acceptance

We'll see how long he can stand up, we'll see....... 8)

Funny thing is, both my '60s thunbscrew 18.5 and my '78 22.5 have the straight edge on the front leg. That being said I had to beat out the front leg on the 22.5" from the inside of the bowl with a rubber mallet to get it un-inverted. So maybe it is from dragging, maybe it was an older design. I saw a pic of an 18 'Cado on eBay last year that had the same thing too.  :-\  I like Dirty Angle!
