Another TriTip
« on: May 30, 2015, 04:44:50 AM »
Cooked another Tri Tip last night.

Used this marinade- http://www.charliepalmer.com/recipes/balsamic-soy-grilled-tri-tip-steak/
2/3 cup olive oil
1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 large shallot, cut crosswise into thin slices
1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme

My standard cook method is one chimney of charcoal in the baskets
Indirect till internal is 130 degrees. Then sear the outside on direct heat. Then foil wrap for 15-20min. Slice against the grain.
Outside edges are medium to well done.
Inside is medium rare to rare.
Makes the family happy!

and the taters!  How do you grill those?  Are they parboiled first?  do they go on at the same time as the steak or do you give them a head start?  I love baby reds, but haven't perfected a way to cook them so they finish up at the same time as the main course.  Thanks!  Fine looking tri tip, too, btw!!

Grizz, Oiled the Potatoes up  with Olive Oil and rubbed with Herb De Provance. Put them on the indirect area of the grill about 20min before the steak.
Moved them closer to crisp the outside for 5-10min then took them off.
Perfect inside and crispy outside ;-)

Oh yeah. Looking good!  I'm all over this tonight. Thanks for the method! They had TriTip on sale tonight and and Pappy's Santa Maria Seasoning in the spices aisle tonight.
