Looks Great Andrew. What paint did you use?
What's the distance between the the two grates?

High temp paint by ppc coatings, 750°c resistant. 20cm between cooking grates, 10cm between lower cooking grate and original grate.

Cool, I've been thinking of adding another grate to my roti ring, it'll give me about 6inches between the two grates
Have you thought about this with your charcoal basket? It means you can shake out the ash after a cook without losing any charcoal for the next cook

I generally either let the coals burn out or use them to light a proper fire after a cook. I'll see what other pics I have,

Updates, it had significant leaks and temp problems, I switched the setup into the blue one touch gold with tighter controls, seal the lid and stacker with Rtv red, and attached latches as a final step. I also upgraded the water pan to a ceramic pot base (47cm)

Nice !!!!!

Major plus points for continuing on to find the right combination of kettle & sealing elements !!!

Looks great!!! How well did the RTV bond with the metal? Did you have to clean the rim of the lid before you applied it?
What's the story with the latches? Did it not sit tight on the kettle bowl?
Looking forward to seeing some meat on that blue bad boy
