I had been under the impression that the Hex Boly Style (as opposed to the H connector style) was no longer made or available.

I recently ordered one from Amazon, and was pleased to find that it was in fact a Hex Bolt style.  I am not sure if anyone else was under this impression, but now you know, if you are doing a replacement and really want the Hex Bolt stlyle  with thumb screw, that option may be available to you.

I've seen those new ones' & I think they're daffy as shit....

THANK YOU........

Was it any particular supplier thru Amazon, or just generally Amazon ?

buckie, I too dislike the H type.

I am almost certain it was direct from amazon.  I can tell you for sure that  my prime membership shipped it free, and I can tell you for sure that the description specified it was the hex type, even though I was half expecting the daffy kind.

Although I do not need them, I considered buying 3 or 4 extra.

From one of the reviews:

"The other thing they don't mention in the product description is that your testicles (or ovaries, depending) will instantly swell 30% in size, because you just fixed your own grill by hand rather than buying a new one. "

Haha, that is the one, I remember reading that review.

I thought it was the other way around? The hex was the standard vs the H being discontinued? I spend the extra $.25 to get a ss bolt for the bottom so it doesnt rust out.

Heyjude

OK Guys,
the "Hex" bolt system is the standard. Its made of plated steel. It will rust!
The "H" set up is SS, Yes, S-T-A-I-N-L-E-S-S Steel. It si the better product. You will only find it on Golds and Performers. Unless Weber changed things, both parts are still available. You won;t find the H drive in a hardware store. You have to order it.
If you like the Hex bolt, they sell for around $12 on average.

I thought that was the case. I've yet to see the H style in the stores. I wanted to get one for my 22.

Time out. I could only find "H" style when fixing a O/S performer this summer.
They did not carry the hex style. They are a large Ace/Weber dealer. All I can say,  they do not work in old performer with bracket ash holder.

Just curious GLR, was it stainless or could weber possibly be doing away with the hex type and making H style out of tin like the original hex? ???

G$

If the h styles i have are stainless, then they are the most worthless pieces of stainless i have ever seen.  Stainless should not rust after 3 years in the desert.

Fwiw, give me the $12 hex bolt any day, except yeah, now i am remembering something qbout the way the buckets mount.  Gonna go look tomorrow.

To be honest, I am not sure. They just told me if would work. Just told it was new and easier. I fought that SOB! Could not use the washer and it is tight as he!!. I gifted to my son and said it has to be replaced by the "Hex" style.
