On this one, I'll I.O.U. it to Brian...... 8)

not to be speaking for him, but if we get Jeff's knob measured (yeah, I know) & the construction of that becomes space-age, maybe the handle could send along with.....?

@1buckie

Thank you so much. I would really appreciate it. I am more than happy to pay for the shipping and make a donation to the site for it.

 I have some antique American Chestnut boards that came from a barn on the old family farm in Connecticut. I think it would make some really nice looking handles. I have to talk to Brian, but if he can make some handles out of it I will be sure to return the favor to you.

@Jeff  Thank you very much for those photos. Mine is also an 18.5 but it is a different model number than yours.  I am hoping that I can find a stainless dish similar to your grease pan and then I can make the holder by bending a piece if stainless rod. Could you get an approximate measurement of the diameter of the rod that makes your holder?  Thanks.

Workin on it!  And my removeable knob!

@Dan NY
Here are those close ups of the grease cup holder with some approximate measurements.

PS...me and @zavod44  Brian are working on that knob controller for you.  I was gonna give it to him today when I saw him but we both got sidetracked by other Weber stuff.  Sorry.   I'll try and get it to him by next weekend.

@Jeff  Thank you very much for those photos and measurements. I think I can make one of those fairly easily by bending a piece of 1/8 or 3/16 stainless rod.  I haven't found a place locally yet to get the rod, but I have a few more places to look. As for the gease cup I am not sure  where to get one. I found a small aluminum cake pan that is the right diameter but is to deep. Maybe I could cut it down and flare out the edge some how.  Anyway it is going to be a fun project.

Thank you to both of you for helping me out with this. It must be pretty cool to be able to get together with other WKC grillfellas  on a weekly basis to talk Webers. :)

 P.S.  I'm really looking forward to holding my new knob ;)  (I couldn't resist)

Wonder if it would work?

http://www.charbroil.com/universal-fit-grease-cup

I bet it would work. I see there is a phone number to call about other grease cups. Maybe they offer something even closer to the original.

Thanks @1buckie

From the catalogs on this site I see not an EG-400 but an EG-420 in the '74 and no mention of electric kettles in the '72 or '73.

The '73 is interesting as it pegs Yellow as a new color that year for the 18 and 22 charcoal models.

One of the few times on this forum I could do without additional pictures.
