Seriously nice job Matt.  Did I read correctly that you got a new emblem ?

Cheers Dave! You know what - I actually had an extra new emblem for a performer here at the house and it turned out to be the same one (albeit slightly newer!) so I was lazy and used that. :)

I love the idea you passed along about stripping/painting/sanding the original emblem so I am going to do a write up/blog post to show others how to do it as well. Thanks again!

That came out awesome. I think the best part of it is comparing the two pictures. The before picture is just not a tired old grill. It is a ball of laughs how the grates, burners, etc are all in the box like a POS that it is. The final pictures is like a Picasso. If I was had one these already, i would go back to where i picked it up and show them, hey this was your grill that you gave me for free...want to buy it lol.

The guy who offered it up was really cool and you could tell he wished he could finish the project but it just wasn't going to happen. I have his email address and said I would forward a pic or two once its 100% complete.  8)

I think you paid too much for this one, Matt!  LOL.

Srsly, though, that thing is incredible.  A nicer specimen than mine, which is the same model.  It was given to me by a family friend, and then a couple years ago I happened upon an exact match at the curb in my neighborhood-- a perfect donor grill.  So I tore both down and Frankensteined the best pieces... ended up painting the box and the sides, but not as nicely as you did!

You're gonna love it!  They cook really well (well, for a gasser) and they're obviously iconic and gorgeous.  Nice work.
