Profile [2]

This may be dumb but I noticed recently the there is a number in brackets next to my profile in the header. A week ago, I noticed it was Profile [1] now it's Profile [2].



Any ideas of what it means?

The number is unread mentions.

You can mention people like this: @dwnthehatch
You'll get alerted that I mentioned you, and that number represents the unread mentions you have.

You can clear it by visiting the mentions page within your profile (click your profile, then hover over the Profile Info link and select the Mentions link).

I have plans to make it easier, but free time has been very limited lately

yes. type the @ and then start typing their name.
Autocomplete should popup and you can select the correct person.

I was wondering that myself, I'd get an email, but never could find the mention - I thought it was a Facebook thing

I can't find a Profile Info link to hover over, after clicking my profile.

yeah, the software isn't that smart
the only way to clear them is by visiting that mention page
