18" Cado
« on: December 02, 2012, 07:19:50 AM »
A few battle scars but overall in good shape.  I polished the legs and triangle as best I could and left the wheels as is.  Now I just need to find some skewers.  This one came with metal wheels while other 18s with "Patent Pending" on the vent have plastic.  Must have been a time of transitioning between metal and plastic at Weber.

Zav-Some light sanding and tung oil brought the handle back to life.
Duke-The ring came with the grill but no skewers  :'(

This is a two-tone but the dark ring around the bottom of the lid is very faint.  Still one of my favorites though.

With only a little light left in the day, I rushed to pull out the 18s.  Not pictured are a red and a limey.  Both are in varying stages of touch-up painting.

Yeah I kind of figured that the wheels went through a metal rims/plastic hubcaps then plastic rims/plastic hubcaps transitional phase between 1968-1970,71. Can't wait to see your Easterner and your Limey. Your blue's look brand new!  :)

Wow Stu.

That is a stunning collection. Absolutely stunning.

And to think, if it weren't for folks like us, many of these would wind up getting recycled, or worse yet, end up in the hands of Philistines incapable of appreciating them.

BTW, I got a pristine black 18.5 of the same vintage as the blues. Haven't cooked on it. It's just too pretty.
