"Aussi style" Weber NG grill?!
« on: August 30, 2014, 02:22:57 PM »
Check out this sweet little rig!

It appears to be same era as an SS performer with almost identical tool hooks, wheels, logo plate etc. If this works as well as I hope it does my genesis warmer gasser may be in trouble!  ;)

50 bones! picking it up in the AM...

Are they decent to cook on? Worst case i can turn it into a sweet WSM smoker cart project.

Seems like it could be pretty useful for its smaller size.

Use a griddle or some cast iron to cook on that. You would have good temp control.

Thanks guys, and will do Steve. This Summit FT 400 is actually a really sweet grill with a great design. Overall its in real nice shape but was beyond dirty inside - i think a blessing in disguise as the grease seemed to have helped preserve it. 3 full soaks of oven cleaner and its finally now back to metal/porcelain. :o The grill is at least 15 years old and internally hardly a spec of rust and the whole body is solid as a rock. Thank you Weber. Will have before and after shots hopefully tomorrow...

Based on the small amount of info I've been able to find some units actually came with a griddle grate for half the cooking surface so they are out there. Id love to get two to have the option of a full griddle surface.

The grates on it are stainless steel and are some of the heaviest i've seen on any grill. Really well thought out... I can't believe I've never seen one of these before, its a perfect companion to a performer IMO.

To weird but I also spotted one today .....it's at house that has one of those never ending yard sales  ...but they must be gone for the long weekend so I was unable to inquire about it , I like unusual stuff, I'll be going back by later this week.

I don' think these were marketed in the US.. Could be wrong, but maybe someone brought it over from another country.

If you can't find a griddle, how about a nice think piece of steel, cut to fit?

I agree, its a steak machine or if you get some griddles, it could be anything..

Nice find for only $50.

Mark my words - I will NEVER bitch about a charcoal kettle cleanup again! What appeared to be the usual burnt up crud at the bottom of the Q was in fact some dried molten lava spewed from the depths of hell itself...

...The quest however was worth it!

6 razor blades, a complete pack of steel wool, a full bottle of easy-off, and 1/2 an aerosol of some other over cleaner and I was left with this!

This thing is extremely well built with a much heavier cart than a performer. All stainless, Aluminum or Porcelain throughout and heavy gauge. It fired right up and provided some pretty impressive heat. Might slap some steaks on it later tonight...

Lot's more before and after pictures in the gallery if your interested!

Also think the side table crud is just that... any ideas for polishing that out? I didn't want to attack it with steel wool just yet.

Careful what you promise......in this crowd....... 8)

What is the material on the side tables?  Porcelain?
