Pecan was just ok on chicken, going to have to try it on beef. Gotta see if I can find some peach. Haven't seen it anywhere though.

I really like mesquite wood for anything beef and I like in on chicken to.  I also like the fruit woods cherry or peach on my pork.  I just like the taste of the heavier smoke flavor mesquite adds if I only could choose one wood.

Banksia!!! Especially the cones. It's a great all round wood for smoking

Melaluca or tea tree is great too especially the lemon scented variety

I have quite a few projects going on using wine barrels and always cut up a few staves for smoking wood.  French and american oak with a hint of red wine.  The stuff is really dense, lasts a long time, and has great flavor.

Probably I'll stick with oak for now........ :o

Yes it's also the cones that the Drop Bears like to feed on,so collecting them can be quiet dangerous

We have an apple orchard close to use, so I like to grab wood from there to use.  I'm really happy with the smoke I get from it, but I would love to get some post oak one of these days to try. 

I some times use Hickory, pecan, or cherry, but I find myself going back to the apple orchard stuff.  I actually have some grapevines I plan on trying just haven't gotten around to it yet.
