Bisbee's smoking friend
« on: August 05, 2014, 06:39:20 PM »
Due to the generosity of another WKC member, my plan for a copper mini WSM to complement Bisbee recently happened with the arrival of a copper SJG.  This mini WSM is much like all other mini WSMs - the only difference is the copper kettle in the Weber logo (as opposed to red).  Of course, the SJG has a Zav handle in dark walnut.

Bisbee got a new ashcan set up as well.  I am trying to decide which I like better - the black ring/copper ashcan setup with spoked wheels (the "steampunk" setup per Gummi):

Or the copper ring/black ashcan setup with solid wheels (the "old school" look):

Thanks for looking,

Winz

How about "Steampunk" with solid wheels? ;)

Winz, your copper is hands down the nicest performer I've seen. So cool and unique and fit and finish is top notch. Thanks for sharing, I want to rip off your idea badly  ;) ;D

Stunning!

I like the look of the classic spoke wheels! I don't think I have seen them on any other kettle/performer. Did you get the side sheet metal plated with copper? I like black ash bracket with the copper ash can.
Two '86 Red OT 22's (sold one G), '85 Red OT 22, '88 Red OT 22's, '93 Red MT 22 (aka Donna), '93 Red SS Performer (non-gas and non-casters), '02 Green OTP( my brother in law has it now), '04 Green OTG

Great looking Winz! Keep the Spokies. Infact share the link, like that modification. Looks like the ash can is a modified purchase of a can that fits perfect?

Below is an amazon link for the 8" wheels.  I found them at a local ACE.  Best part is the hub is 3/8 - the same diameter as a stock performer axle.  No messing with adaptors.

Good eye!  Yes, the ash can is indeed a copper pan with a 9 3/4 diameter.  I simply drilled holes for the stock Weber ashcan handle.  Fits perfectly.

I like the spoke-wheels as well.

Wow, that Linens-n-Things Gold SJ really 'pops' with the black smoker-pot on there!
Interested in ANY offset handle SJs you may have.
