So the wife says...."want to BBQ something today?"
"I was going to get stuff for little meatloafs...."
I say " Maybe shish kabobs?"
Think on it....I've got to mail this BBQ & a few other things......
She gets back right after I send an 18" to Duke for his project (one of many, I would suppose....)
& also went to another ACE looking for the outdated ash sweepers....no luck, but I did find some Lazzari briquettes to try out......
So.......WE'RE HAVING COWBOY STEAKS........
I'm thinkin' for cowboy type stuff, maybe something 'brown' like the plains or the desert....got out the unused Brownie....."M" ~ 1990....never been fired 'till now ~~>
She always brings back prizes from any road trip, here's a couple....BBQ themed tray, no good for hot stuff as it's plastic, but a nice prep / serving tray...
Also this little dittie from some place in Texas.....may have been the "Home of the 72oz. Steak", as they stopped there both up & back going to Oklahoma...........
My Sears & Roebuck pseudonym is 1buckie...the "K" could be for that, actual real name is Ken, so I guess it works either way.....
I stopped by a thrift store that I forget about usually & found my own prize.....
Green tag day means 75% off....cast iron sear grate for $1.25....
Stole the flip up from the Blue Mastertouch, as I wasn't really sure how these lunkers would roll, plus there has to be access for the branding iron............
Fired the 18" Bar-B-Kettle 1st to clear off the coating from the new cast iron & then for taters & corn & garlic bread....
Got to use the daffy side ring holder thing-a-ma-bob......works really good as a quick hook for the tongs....I really like this thing......
It was a 1911Ron Arizona hot kind of a day......& the ac seems to be limping sideways for some reason....does not bode well if this heat keeps up......
Got the meats rollin' after the taters were aways along....
Realized that the sear grate & the branding iron are at cross-purposes, after they were already cooking....oh well.....STAMP 'EM !!!
Done & all piled up....
Plated........
The wife is intelligent....she saws off a piece instead of loading up the whole thing.....
Pic doesn't quite do it justice.....perfect medium rare all the way across & a nice, not too heavy crust....
Did the fork / juice test on mine........
There was lettuce available........also.....
A bit later.....I was groaning....I can't believe Iate the whole thing (almost)
Flipped over the last chunk & lo& behold, it left a mark.....
It really was nice to have some beef.....when she was gone, I just kept ordering the 'Turd Platter, over & over & over.................
