So last night I finished cleaning up this $5 Smokey Joe find (not including bottle of gin for my BIL that agented and the Zavod handle), and I was pretty happy with how it turned out.

Then, even though I've told myself to stop looking and enjoy the grills you have this summer, I looked on CL and found something I've been waiting for: a beautiful red MBH!  Needless to say, I took some time from work this AM and she is home with me now!

I'm going with a '76/'77 based on the age guide, which is in the range of my and my wife's birthdays.  It is structurally in amazing condition.  Need to carefully remove some white paint spray, but a test area gives me hope it will be doable.  The only area I'll need to be really careful about is the handle where there is a slight bit of play, mild rust inside and enamel loss.  Really pinching myself on scoring this!

Very cool find!  That paint should come off easily with a razor scraper no problem.  Congrats!  Nice SJ too....

Thanks!  Amazing how much heavier and more solid feeling the older ones are.

Nice find and it sounds like it was close to home. I'm sure it will look even better once you get it cleaned up and polished. The little SJ looks great as well.

Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

Thanks all.  Now just need to figure out which project happens first. The new red or mounting my 26 to the SSP frame (been on the list since last summer 🤦🏻‍♂️).

Do the 26! I need some pointers, ha ha ha. Picking up a 26" tomorrow with the OTP frame (I think that's what you call it). Both kettle and frame have issues. I have that project and a '90 red head to restore.
