Price check on BGE large with BBQ Guru DigiQ DX2
« on: October 11, 2020, 07:18:47 PM »
Hello,  I am most likely going to sell my BGE.  I would have no idea what the used price range should be.  I have asked the moderators if I can post in the for sale forum and am awaiting an answer.  If not it will be Craigslist.  Please help be determine a value to ask for these items.  I could keep the digi Q, it is really awesome and could use it on a kettle.
Thanks for any assistance.

What is included with your egg and is it already registered for warranty purposes? The ceramic warranty is technically non-transferrable and the price on Eggs is extremely location dependent. In the South, they typically trade for ~50% of retail value for a recent and clean model. Everywhere else, they can sell for up to 60-75% of retail. This is only a general guideline of course. I would list it at the higher end and see what offers you get. There are two main BGE BST groups on FB which should be a good way to sell them: https://www.facebook.com/groups/BigGreenEggcessories/ and https://www.facebook.com/groups/BigGeenEggBBQersMarketplace/ You might as well list it while football is on and before Thanksgiving. Do not do a nuclear clean burn before you sell it. The BGE crowd is not big on the DigiQ so I would sell that separately. You'll likely have good luck selling that here.  I have a couple eggs and have been part of that community for a few years so lmk if you have more questions.

I don't have an egg but am now curious. Why no clean burn beforehand?

No “nuclear” clean burn with a uncontrolled full fire at 1000F+. There’s too much risk in the ceramic cracking and gasket burning out that it’s just not worth it. Just give it a light cleaning or cook a few pizzas at 600F and let the buyer deal with it.
