Did appetizers this weekend instead of the main course. First time ABTs and moink balls on the Performer.

They didn't last long!

Is a moink ball just a meatball wrapped in bacon? Looks delicious!

You bet, Tim......I think the original ones werre just thawed from frozen, from what I've found on the history....
One of my favorites to use are these "buffalo chicken flavored" 1/2oz. size, par-thawed, takes about 1/3 strip of bacon, wraps quick & slick, cook 'till bacon's how you'd like, maybe sauce near the end, or set 'em in a foil pan & layer some sauce over & let them steam a bit in the sauce......

Chicken ~~~> Ch. ~~  Bacon ~~~>oink......Choink Balls

Beef ~~~> Moo ~~ Bacon ~~~> oink......Moink Balls

PS: sometimes I get 1 oz. size, cut them in half so there's a flat side to sit on the grate.....some folks also put 4~6, or so, at a time on a small skewer, for ease in moving them on & off the grill or while cooking......Fun Stuff !!!!

You can roll up your own w/ ground beef, some folks add a little block of cheese in the middle for good luck........usually takes a bit more bacon to do your own, just 'cause it's a bit harder to roll up small ones...........

*******Don't know if there's a Smart 'n' Final stores near you, but that's where I find the "Buffalo" one's.....I think it's "Rosarita" brand.....if I got some in the freezer, i'll confirm....

Yes, Tim. And they're pre-made. These were frozen Italian meatballs, thawed and wrapped in a half-strip of bacon. I ran the Performer hot, about 350 or so, to crisp up the bacon.

It doesn't get much easier or fool-proof than that!

Hey buckie! Buffalo chicken flavored? Wow, that sounds good. I'll have to keep any eye out for them.

Ironde.....see up above about the Buffalo, saw your post while still writing....^^^^

Here's a thing I did about 'Turd wrapping a bit ago, may help in the ongoing quest for the ever more tightly wrapped 'Turd !!!

Damn, buckie! Those look great! I'll try that next time as I wasn't too pleased with how half-slice of bacon pulled back from pepper.

Thanks!!

don't have too much patience for them falling apart.....usually just eat those ones that do while cooking.....

I finally dabbled in moink balls and they are tasty but now it's time  to try my hand at ABT's.
