Ball-B-Q!
« on: June 14, 2019, 08:39:49 AM »
The wife found this retro Ball-B-Q on a local buy and sell. So excited! These were made by a Canadian company from the 50s til the mid 70s. Became kinda famous when one was used on the set of That 70s Show.

I was hoping to cook on her, but when I finally got it home I realized how great of condition she was in! The grates are in mint condition. Looks like it was used maybe a handful of times.

The lady I bought it from said it was in storage for about 40 years.

No vents. There's a gap between the lid and the base. The only real temperature control is the variable level grate. 3 different heights to set the grate at.

Too Cool!

Just don't use it on that nice wood deck.

 @THROUGH THE MUD BBQ TEAM

Wow, that one is in great condition! Congrats.

I grew up with one of these when I was a child in the 70s.
Not sure how much patience my Dad had with it...
TBH, these are not great cookers... Compared to a Weber kettle.

I happen to have two of these in my possession.
One is very similar to yours, albeit, in a slightly more worn condition, but still purty.
And, the other is even more worn, but it is the brown and gold version.

Q: How do you know something is bull$h!t?
A: When you are not allowed to question it.

Those old BALL B Qs are sweet! There's an  episode of That 70s show where Red is having a BBQ off with Bob next door. Red has a red Weber kettle with anachronistic wood bowl handles and Bob has an anachronistic red Genesis gasser.
