I have now tried this a few times and like it very much.

I modified my black SJ. However, I cannot take credit for this idea. Works great.  :)

When doing a mid-week, or a quick grill job for maybe 2-3 burgers, or, a couple of striploins,
I put the SJ on my 22.5" charcoal grate.
I stand about 6'2" on a good day, so this is a very nice height.  :)

I lite about this much charcoal. In this case, it's a 2.5lb bag of RO that I just picked up for 99ยข.
When I did the striploins, it was close to twice this amount. Steaks were nice and close to the charcoal.

Getting things going.

Three 8oz homemade patties going on. Then flipped after about 8 mins. Coming off after 12-13 mins total.
Toasted the buns for about a minute, with the intakes closed.

I usually prefer a loaded burger ... all the fixin's and such. Just ketchup and mustard for these.

Delicious!!
Q: How do you know something is bull$h!t?
A: When you are not allowed to question it.

Great tips, Mac!  Especially the handy elevator for the SJ.  Brilliant.
