I am planning on make ribs on Saturday. There is currently a sale on ribs $2/lb that ends on Tuesday. I need 4 racks so that would save about $20. If I buy them on Tuesday will they will be good to cook on Saturday?

There is usually a use or freeze by date on the package.  Go by that date.
Looking for: Red MBH 26"(The Aristocrat), Chestnut-coppertone (The Estate), Glen-blue (The Imperial), and The Plainsman.

What he said. They will probably still be good but check the date to be sure. You would probably season them Friday night anyways so they'd only be in the fridge a few days.

If they're in a cryopak you can usually hold for a longer time.
(check the dates)
If they are living in a foam tray, who knows.
The cryo date is set by the packer.
Once the store breaks them into foam trays
the real date can go out the window.

BTW, is price that for spares or baby backs?

Still a good price. (I'm jealous)
For BB's that would be a steal.

I see you're from Damascus, I grew up in Silver Spring! Any how Aldi is where I'd be getting the ribs. I see there's one in Germantown. Maybe they would be having the same sale?

Have to check out the Aldi thing.
One not too far from us.

Make sure to read the label.
Most cheap rib deals are for enhanced meat products.
In ribs this can lead to a "hammy" taste and texture.

about 30 seconds, before I lose control and eat them.   haha

Thanks everyone for the replies! I'm always learning. The ribs were cryopak-ed and had a date that is a week away. I'll be smoking them this Saturday so I'm good to go. Can't wait!

I was going to be a wise ass and say I can hold them pretty long if they aren't too hot.

Glad they are still good, and good luck with your cook!

I wouldn't have blamed you. The way I phrased the question is just begging for it haha
