How many of you out there experience loose legs on their kettle? Like a rocking motion. And how have you fixed them.

I don't want to drill a hole to insert a screw.

Thanks in advance.

I've had good luck with using a broom handle to flair out the ends of the legs. Put it inside the leg and turn while applying outward pressure against the in side of the leg.

It's not just a grill, it's a WEBER

I've used this trick too. Works great.

There's a term for that. WLS. Wobbly leg syndrome. So yes. We have experienced it enough and we gave it a name.

@wipple370

Are the legs loose in the sockets or are the sockets loose from the kettle?
You can't always get what you want....but if you try sometimes you get what you need

@ Hell Fire Grill

The sockets are fine. It is the leg in the socket.

That is pretty funny..

What follows is a permanent fix, meaning you will probably never get the legs out.

Once the legs are out of the socket, I straighten with a broom handle as suggested. Make sure you can see where the dimple in the leg socket made contact with the leg.

I then cut 3" pieces of 3/4" conduit. Using my bench grinder, I create a flat spot on the side of the conduit. Insert the conduit in the reshaped leg, making sure your flat spot lines up with the where the socket dimple made contact. Using a some spray lube and a rocking motion, insert the leg back into the socket. If it doesn't want to go in at all you don't have a deep enough flat spot, or it's not lined up right.

When you do get everything right and the leg finally gets all the way in, that sumbitch ain't coming back out, and your grill sure as hell won't wobble.
I've got Webers. 10 - WSMs, 5 - 22.5" kettles, 2 - 18.5" kettle, 2 - SJS, 2 - SJP, 4 - WGA, 1 vintage Coolie Pan

Take the legs off take the wheels and triangle apart. Now swap the legs so that the one on the right side is now on the left. The dimples on the legs are now opposite, so when you reassemble the grill the legs will be nice and tight ... try it
