Are these burner tubes worth saving?

Started to clean out the Q300(mistakenly thought was a 320) that I bought on CL last week.  The inside was filthy, looked as if it had never been cleaned.  But, with nothing but a 98-cent plastic scraper and some elbow grease, she's 80% there.  With the new grates, certainly clean enough to cook on, but I like them to be pristine at least once. 

That being said, are these tubes worth being bothered with, or should I just order new ones. 

















I paid $50 for the Q and $60 for new grates; I figure that I have about $50-$75 or so to go before I'd do better hitting CL again.

Even without all holes firing, it got hot really quickly and I can certainly see the appeal of gas for quick cooks and have seen some really good work with the Q on YouTube.

One of my biggest reasons for buying is my wife; she asked what I wanted for Father's Day dinner....  I want a steak, but she doesn't know how to use the Kettles or the KJ.  I figure with the Q, she can start doing quick cooks and sides while I man the Kettles or the Joe.

Yep, still in good enough shape.   Basically, they are "worn out" when they have rusted through in spots and the little openings have started running together.  Like JK said, hit them with a wire wheel or a brush.  Then go back and inspect every hole and make sure none of them have gotten clogged.  Wouldn't hurt to shoot some compressed air through at this point if you can.  If you can't, just kind of stand the tube up and tap on it, rotating the tube around to try and get anything that fell inside to come back out.

Yup, wire brush should do the trick, then compressed air to clear the tubes. 
Will last for years depending on neglect.

Were the Q burners stainless?

Q burners are SS
Like everyone said, wire wheel them and make sure all the holes are clear.
If you don;t have a compressor, just rinse it out with a hose
You can also polish with some emery paper.
Stay away from the air intake screen with any wheel or brush. Just rinse it with soap and water.
Those little vent screens need to be clear but usually just need washed out.

I agree with the guys above. There's still a lot of life left in that burner. Just wire brush the corrosion off and cook with it

Yes sir! Those are keepers. They can be as good as new!

This is after hitting them with a coarse wheel, fine wheel, cleaning with alcohol and clearing out each hole with a needle:









I've got maybe two sets of holes running together, so I will eventually have to replace the tubes, but she's a cooker now for sure!

Wanted a steak for Father's Day and my wife doesn't know how to grill, so she got her first lesson today on the Q....

Good job on the cleanup and kudos to your wife grilling. Those hot dogs look perfect. Q's are awesome!
